Chelbesa
This coffee comes from Chelbesa in the Gedeb district, one of the most renowned coffee-growing areas of Yirgacheffe. Cherries are delivered by local smallholder farmers to the Chelbesa Washing Station, managed by Alemayahu Tilahun and operated by SNAP Coffee. The farms are located between 1,925 and 2,110 meters above sea level, benefiting from fertile soils and Ethiopia’s cool highland climate. SNAP works closely with farmers by providing training, improving infrastructure, and supporting local communities through educational and environmental initiatives.
VARIETY
This lot is composed of traditional Ethiopian Heirloom varieties. These indigenous landrace cultivars are celebrated for their remarkable genetic diversity and their ability to produce floral, fruit-forward, and highly complex cup profiles. The high elevations around Chelbesa further enhance the coffee’s sweetness, clarity, and elegance.
PROCESSING
This coffee was processed using the Washed method. After selective harvesting, only ripe cherries are depulped, fermented, and thoroughly washed before being slowly dried on raised beds. This careful process highlights the coffee’s clean, balanced character and results in a refined cup with notes of sweet berries, chamomile, delicate herbs, and bright citrus.
